Macrobrachium idae (Ida's River Prawn)
Species Account
A wide-ranging, euryhaline, Indo-West Pacific species typically found in estuaries or lowland fresh waters with limited flow. In Australia, easily confused with Macrobrachium australiense Holthuis, 1950 except the thick pubescence of setae on the fingers of the second chelae of dominant males does not cover both fingers, only the movable finger. The banded antennae are also a distinctive feature. A medium-sized species reaching 100 mm in length. The eggs are small (0.6 mm) and numerous. — John W. Short, 2026
