Species Account

An endemic, east Australian, euryhaline species occurring from the tip of Cape York Peninsula, Queensland to mid-eastern New South Wales. Common in rainforest streams in northeast Queensland but in the subtropics largely restricted to coastal blackwaters. Second chelipeds without setal pubescence on fingers, dominant males with distinctive orange merus on second chelipeds. A medium-sized species reaching 100 mm in length. Eggs small (0.6 mm) and numerous. — John W. Short, 2026
