Introduction

The Oziidae is a small family comprising 7 genera and 35 species (extant taxa) with a wide distribution in the Indo-West Pacific region. Forceps Crabs are typically found on rocky shores in the intertidal and shallow subtidal zones under rocks. Some species are found in mangrove areas.  —  John W. Short, 2026

Diagnosis

Carapace transversely ovate to quadrate. Major chela with large molariform tooth used for cutting or crushing, fingers of minor chela forceps-like. Male abdomen relatively narrow with lateral margins converging towards telson.  —  John W. Short, 2026
