Ozius truncatus (Stout Rock Crab)

Species Account

A large, intertidal, rocky shore species endemic to southern Australia, Lord Howe Island and Norfolk Island. Lives under rocks in middle to upper intertidal zones. Front half of carapace broadly rounded, lateral margins with four broad lobes, chelipeds large and swollen. Rusty brown to dark purple with light coloured joints on the legs.
