A guide to the 32 species of freshwater decapod Crustacea known from the Mimika region between the Otokwa and Kamora rivers in southern Papua, New Guinea. The genera reported include:
Infraorder Caridea (shrimps and prawns) - two genera of Atyidae, viz. Atyopsis (fan shrimps) and Caridina (brush shrimps) and two genera of Palaemonidae, viz. Palaemon and Macrobrachium (river prawns, river shrimps, freshwater prawns, long-armed prawns).
Infraorder Astacidea (freshwater crayfishes) - the genus Cherax from the family Parastacidae.
Infraorder Brachyura (true crabs) - the genera Geelvinkia, Holthuisana and Rouxana of the family Gecarcinucidae (freshwater crabs) and the genera Parapyxidognathus and Varuna from the family Varunidae (river swimming crabs).
