
Trapezia cymodoce (Blue Coral Crab)
Species Account
A wide-ranging Indo-Pacific species found on subtidal coral reefs. Symbiotic on branching corals, particularly species of Acropora, Pocillopora, Seriatopora and Stylophora. Feeds on coral mucous and in return defends the coral against predators. Carapace bluish-grey with a pair or row of orange spots across the middle of the carapace; chelipeds tan to orange with dark fingers. Body width to 20 mm. — John W. Short, 2026
