
Trapezia serenei (Serene's Coral Crab)
Species Account
A wide-ranging Indo-West Pacific species found on subtidal coral reefs. Symbiotic on branching corals of the genus Pocillopora. Feeds on coral mucous and in return defends the coral against predators. Carapace and chelipeds peach-coloured except for reddish-purple on frontal margin of carapace and the chelipeds (anterior and distal margins of merus and carpus); walking legs purple. — John W.
