Introduction
The Trapeziidae are a group of small colourful crabs which live symbiotically on cnidarians. Trapezia are obligate symbionts on branching corals, particularly Pocillopora, Seriatopora and Stylophora, whereas Quadrella prefer soft corals, sea fans and black corals. Coral crabs live in a mutualistic relationship with their host and provide defence against predators while obtaining nutrition from the host's mucous. — John W. Short, 2026
